Throughout the year, the Ronald McDonald House of Bangor holds cooking classes for the public, hosted by a local chef, often associated with an area restaurant, bakery, community college, or other organization. The cost to attend a cooking class is $20 per person and all proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Bangor.
Many of our guest chefs in the past have had a culinary arts education. While a degree is not mandatory, it is helpful to have been involved in classroom experiences.
What you Need to Know about Becoming a Guest Chef
- Chefs are asked to supply their own ingredients, if possible. They also volunteer their time to host the class.
- Day and time of the class is dependent on the chef's schedule.
- Classes are usually 2 to 2 1/2 hrs long with a maximum capacity of 20 people.
- Chefs are encouraged to provide a hands-on experience for the participants.
- Taste testing and sampling the foods is a must in the class.
- Participants are provided with the recipes.
Interested chefs should contact Dina Casey at the Bangor Ronald McDonald House, (207)942-9003.
